Thibodaux Chief of Police Bryan Zeringue announced the arrest of Henry Dickerson Jr. (B/M, 65 of Raceland, La.) for Attempted Armed Robbery & Entry On Or Remaining In Places After Being Forbidden.

Detectives began investigating an Attempted Armed Robbery that occurred on Saturday, December 15th, shortly before 9:00 p.m., where an unknown black male subject entered a local business in the 400 Block of East 1st Street and attempted to rob the desk clerk. Detectives worked diligently to obtain a still photo and video of the suspect from the incident. The photo and video was posted to social media asking for the public’s assistance with identification. Since then, the investigation led officers to identifying a possible suspect known as Henry Dickerson Jr. Along with the public’s help, a suspect later identified as Dickerson was seen during the morning hours of Thursday, December 20th, 2018, walking with a cane through the Downtown Thibodaux area, wearing most of the same clothing worn during the Attempted Armed Robbery. When police responded, Dickerson was unable to be located. Without giving up search, officers later located Dickerson at a business in the 1000 block of Canal Boulevard, where he was previously banned from being on the premises. Dickerson was detained and brought to the Thibodaux Police Department, where the investigation continued. Dickerson was subsequently arrested and transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center, where he remains on a $75,000.00 Bond.

Chief Zeringue would like to thank our community partners for their vigilance and communication that helped lead to an arrest. Chief Zeringue added “It’s the continuous joint effort between the public and law enforcement that allows our community to remain safe”.
