Second UPDATE:

On February 20th, 2019 shortly before 12:00p.m., the Houma Police Department was contacted by Killeen Texas Police Department and advised that they had apprehended Richard Kenny-19 yrs. old of Houma per warrant for 2nd Degree Murder. Kenny’s arrest stem from a homicide that occurred on 1-27-19 where Philip Baker-18 yrs old was shot and killed on a basketball court near Goode Street.

Law enforcement in Killeen, Texas advised that while conducting an unrelated homicide investigation Richard Kenny was seen exiting a residence and entered a vehicle at which time a traffic stop was conducted. Upon identifying him he was taken into custody without incident. Killeen Police Department advised that Richard Kenny initially provided them with a fake name, but through further investigation they were able to positively identify him. Richard Kenny was then taken into custody per warrant through the 32nd Judicial District Court for the charge of 2nd Degree Murder and is currently housed in Killeen, Tx awaiting extradition.

The Houma Police Department would like to thank Killeen Police Department for their assistance, as well as the citizens within our community for the constant information received during this investigation.  

 

UPDATE:

On 1-29-19 around 4pm, Johnathon Douglas-19 yrs old of Margaret Street who was wanted by Houma Police for Principle to Second Degree Murder turned himself in. Once doing so, Douglas was booked per warrant and transported to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex to be booked and jailed.

At this time, Richard Kenny-19 yrs old, who is wanted for Second Degree Murder, remains at large. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the police department or Bayou Region Crime Stoppers and may be eligible for a reward up to $1000.

 

Initial Release:

On 1-27-19 shortly before 6pm, Houma Police responded to the 1100 block of Goode Street in reference to a report of shots fired. While responding, officers learned that a victim, Philip Baker-18 yrs. old, was shot and was suffering from multiple wounds. While on scene, Philip Baker was located and transported to a local medical facility where he was later pronounced dead.

As the investigation continued, Houma Police learned that the victim was at the park within the 1100 block of Goode Street. While there, an altercation took place with Richard Kenny 19 yrs. old over a debt for narcotics. During the altercation, Johnathon Douglas-19 yrs. old and Trenden McGuire 20 yrs. old, handed Richard Kenny a weapon, which he pointed at Philip Baker and started firing at him. Houma Police learned Philip Baker took off running and Richard Kenny chased him continuously shooting.

Shortly afterward, Houma Police located Trenden McGuire at a residence on Lafayette Street and took him into custody. He was subsequently arrested for Principle to Second Degree Murder. Houma Police also obtained warrants through the 32nd Judicial District Court on Johnathon Douglas for Principle to Second Degree Murder but he remains at large.

At this point Houma Police detectives have an active warrant through the 32nd Judicial District Court for Richard Kenny on charges related to Second Degree Murder.
