Methamphetamine recovered on traffic stop

Thibodaux Chief of Police Bryan Zeringue announced the arrest of Lloyd Mitchell (B/M, 37 of Houma, La.), for Improper Display of Temporary Registration License Plate & Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine (Felony).
On Friday, March 1st, 2019, shortly after 1:00 a.m., officers with the Thibodaux Police Department conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of W. 1st Street (LA Hwy 1) & Jackson Street (LA Hwy 20). The red 2006 Nissan Armada was stopped, due to not displaying a visible license plate.
Upon making contact with the occupants, the officer smelled the odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The driver who was identified as Lloyd Mitchell later gave the officer consent to search the vehicle, where 25 grams of suspected methamphetamine was recovered. Mr. Mitchell claimed ownership of the found narcotics and was placed under arrest.
Mr. Mitchell was transported to the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex, where he later posted a $10,100.00 bond.
