News Release Document

                                                                            March 26th, 2019 

 On March 23rd,  2019 at approximately 4:30a.m. members of the Houma Police Department Uniform Patrol Division responded to a vehicle burglary in the area of Apache Drive.  As officers arrived in the area they noticed a burglary in progress in the 300 block of Apache Drive and attempted to stop and detain the suspects.   As officers approached the suspects they fled on foot into the neighborhood and after a lengthy foot pursuit the officers lost sight of the suspects.  The Houma Police Department K-9 unit responded to the scene and tracked the suspects towards the Houma Terrebonne Civic Center.  Patrolling units then observed the suspects running through the parking lot of the civic center as they were attempting to evade police by hiding behind several campers that were parked in the parking lot. 

Officers then took Juwan Vedol 19 years old and Justavrin Howard 20 years old into custody without incident.  As they investigation continued officers located the vehicle that was driven to the scene by the suspect in the parking lot of a nearby business and upon approaching the vehicle found the other two suspects hiding within the suspect vehicle.  Both suspects were then taken into custody and identified as Percy Sylvester 19 years old and Calvin Davis 17 years old. 

As a result of the investigation officers found that the suspects burglarized five vehicles in the area of sugar mill point.  

All suspects were transported to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex where they were each charged with Five Counts of Simple Burglary.
