News Release Document

April 2nd, 2019 

 On April 1st,2019 at approximately 11:00 a.m. the Houma Police Department was dispatched to the 600 block of Pecan Street in reference to a violation of a protective order.  As units were responding to the complaint the suspect left the scene in a black colored sedan.  Units then located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Jefferson Davis and Mckinley Street.  Officers then identified the passenger of the vehicle as Sheldon Henry and began to speak with him about the complaint.  At that point Henry shoved the officer and fled on foot into the neighborhood.  Henry was then pursued and was taken into custody after a brief struggle with officers.  A search of Henry’s person was conducted and he was found to be in possession of a large amount of narcotics and a firearm which was concealed in his clothing.

 After further investigation regarding the violation of the Protective Order it was discovered that he had never been served and at that point in time he was served with a copy of the protective order.

 As a result of the investigation officers recovered approximately 36 grams of Methamphetamine, approximately 2.41 grams of Crack Cocaine, approximately 7.18 grams of Heroin and a .45 Caliber semi automatic handgun.

 Henry was then arrested and booked into the Terrebonne Parish criminal justice complex for Battery of a Police Officer, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of a Firearm while in Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession with the intent to distribute Crack Cocaine,  Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession with the intent to distribute Heroin,  Transactions involving proceeds from CDS and Resisting an Officer
