News Release - Shooting
April 22, 2019
On April 21, 2019 shortly before 6pm Houma Police responded to 1313 Levee Drive in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival officers located a female in her 60’s suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to her upper torso. She was immediately transported to a local medical facility to be treated for her injuries.
During the investigation Houma Police detectives learned that the female was involved in an altercation with her son, Christopher Maloz-32 yrs old also of Levee Drive. Houma Police are still in the process of learning what the argument was about, but during the altercation Christopher Maloz, retrieved a semi-automatic pistol and threatened to kill his parents.
As the altercation progressed, all subjects exited the residence and was in the front yard when Christopher Maloz shot his mother multiple times. He then retreated in the residence and fired the weapon several times inside.
While on scene, Houma Police confronted the suspect, ordered him out the residence and immediately took him into custody. Houma Police were able to recover a 9mm semi-automatic Barretta. Christopher Maloz was taken into custody and arrested for Attempted Second Degree Murder. He was transported to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex to be booked and jailed to await bond or court.
The female victim remains hospitalized and is listed in critical condition.
