 Terry Daigre Announces Candidacy for Terrebonne Parish Sheriff

 Houma, La.--- Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Col. Terry Daigre announced that he is running to become the next Sheriff of Terrebonne Parish. Daigre has worked at the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office for over 23 years. Prior to that he served in the United States Army.

As Chief Deputy of the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office, Daigre is the second highest ranking official in the department behind the sheriff. He has experience across multiple TPSO departments and understands how the office works. As a veteran law enforcement officer, Daigre has the vast and unique experience of working hundreds of cases from crime scene to conviction.

“When it comes to protecting the citizens of Terrebonne Parish, experience is important, but having the right experience matters the most,” said Daigre. “I have a deep understanding of all TPSO departments and I believe I am the most qualified candidate in this race. I don’t need on-the-job training, I will be ready to lead this office and protect this parish on Day 1.”

Daigre is a graduate of multiple law enforcement schools, including Interview and Interrogation, Homicide Investigations, Narcotics Commander, and Active Shooter Instruction. He has worked in the Criminal Investigation Division,  Uniform Patrol Division, the Narcotics Division, and is an active member of the Sheriff’s Office S.W.A.T. Team, where he has served for over 20 years.

Daigre began exploring the potential of seeking the position of sheriff after Sheriff Jerry Larpenter announced that he would not seek reelection.

“During my 23-year career with the TPSO, I have had the honor to work under Sheriff Larpenter,” said Daigre. “He has done a fine job leading this office and protecting this community. I look forward to continue doing so as well.”

Daigre is a lifelong resident on Terrebonne Parish. He has been happily married to Tara Daigre for 26 years and together they have raised two children.
