                        KELLY MARIE BLANCHARD

PIERRE PART – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Kelly Marie Blanchard, 34, of 106 Cyril Street, Pierre Part, LA on felony drug charges related to a Monday evening traffic stop in Belle River.

Uniformed patrol deputies observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and executed a stop of the violator.

Deputies interviewed the driver as well as the passenger who was identified as Kelly Marie Blanchard.  During occupant interviews, both appeared somewhat nervous.  Blanchard was deceptive and evasive in her answers.

Deputies requested and were granted consent to search the vehicle. Deputies seized a quantity of marijuana from the vehicle as well as meth-amphetamine off the person of Kelly Marie Blanchard.

Deputies arrested Blanchard and transported her to the Assumption Parish Detention Center for booking.

During a more extensive body search, additional meth-amphetamine was seized from Blanchard.

Kelly Marie Blanchard was booked into jail on charges of:

            *Possession of Marijuana

            *Possession of Meth-Amphetamine with Intent to Distribute

            *Taking Contraband to and from a Penal Institution

Blanchard remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.

Kelly Blanchard has multiple narcotics arrests on file and is a convicted felon.
