Traffic Stop - Drug Law Violations

SUBJECT: TRAFFIC STOP / DRUG LAW VIOLATIONS – BRENT GERRARD MEADS
LABADIEVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Brent Gerrard Meads, 29, of 2478 Highway 308, #19, Thibodaux, LA, on drug charges related to a Monday afternoon traffic stop.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle on LA 398 commit a traffic violation and proceeded to stop the vehicle. Deputies identified the driver and proceeded to interview him. The deputy noted an odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle.
A K-9 unit responded and conducted an open-air sweep and alerted to the presence of narcotics.
A search of the vehicle yielded a quantity of oxycodone.
Brent Gerard Meads was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:
*Possession of Oxycodone with Intent to Distribute
Meads remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
