Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a Dularge woman Sunday (May 5) in connection with allegations that she beat her husband and pointed a gun at him in the presence of their two young children ages 7 and 9. Chief Criminal Deputy Col. Terry Daigre said a patrol unit was dispatched to the 700 block of Bayou Dularge Road shortly after 6 a.m. and was met by the complainant.

“The deputy was told by the victim that his wife, Molly Benoit, became angry when one of the children woke her up, and that she began cursing at the children and then him,” Col. Daigre said. “The victim also alleged that she threw objects at him that included a metal banana stand and a wooden bowl.” The deputy was told that Molly Benoit grabbed her husband’s pistol from under a pillow and drew it from the holster.

“The husband said he was able to disarm her and that he then unloaded it,” Col. Daigre said. The victim, who said he repeatedly was struck and that he tried to fend off the woman, suffered scratches and other injuries but refused medical attention. No injuries to the children were reported, but the victim said the acts he described took place in front of them.

Molly Benoit, 46, 700 Bayou Dularge Rd. Houma, La. was booked at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex on charges of aggravated battery, aggravated assault with a firearm and domestic abuse battery with child endangerment.
