One arrest made in Saturday morning homicide investigation

Thibodaux Chief of Police Bryan Zeringue announced the arrest of John Washington (B/M, 27), of Thibodaux, LA for Second Degree Murder.
On Tuesday, May 28, 2019, John Washington, was booked into the Assumption Parish Jail on a City Court of Thibodaux Arrest Warrant for the Charge of Second Degree Murder.
The warrant stemmed from a homicide that took place on Saturday, May 25th, 2019, shortly after 2:00 a.m. The investigation led Detectives to link Mr. Washington as a suspect in the case. Mr. Washington was arrested and held at the Assumption Parish Jail, until today Friday May 31, 2019, when he was transferred to the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex. Mr. Washington remains held on a $1,000,000.00 bond.
The homicide on Saturday, May 25th, 2019, claimed the life of Travontae Williams (B/M, 22) of Thibodaux, LA.
Officers responded to the 1400 block of Plantation Road, in reference to a report of gun shots being fired. Upon arrival, Mr. Williams was found deceased on scene from at least two suspected gunshot wounds. Mr. Williams’ body was found near the intersection of Midland Drive & Planation Road, with no suspects on scene.
The incident still remains under investigation and Detectives are not ruling out other suspects. A suspected motive of the shooting is being withheld at this time, in attempt to protect the integrity of the investigation. More information will be released as it can be made available to the public.
