Driver arrested for hit and run

On June 10th shortly before 9pm Houma Police responded to the area of Barrow Street and Highway 311 in reference to a vehicle driving reckless. During the investigation, it was developed that a silver dodge Durango hit a fence, which belongs to a business within the 800 block of Bayou Black Drive and departed the scene.
Shortly thereafter, another call came in to HPD that a vehicle matching the same description struck a tree near Maple Avenue and Park Avenue. It was reported that the driver exited and ran towards a business attempting to enter, but the employees locked the door. The male then picked up a newspaper dispenser and threw it through the window, gaining access.
Upon entering the business, the suspect locked himself in an area of the business but was immediately removed when law enforcement arrived.
As the investigation continued, the driver was identified as Therold L. James-35 yrs. old of Teche Rd in Morgan City. Therold L. James was subsequently arrested for 2-cts. Hit and Run, Unauthorized Entry of a Place of Business, Criminal Damage to Property and DWI. Therold L. James was transported to the jail to be booked on the aforementioned charges.
