At about 6:45 a.m. Tues., July 9th, TPSO units were dispatched to a remote area near Maraya Street in Chauvin to investigate a report that a body had been found. Patrol deputies located the decomposed remains of an individual believed to be male and a crime scene was established.

Detectives responded and commenced an investigation. “At this time no positive identification has been made,” said Col. Terry Daigre, Chief Criminal Deputy. “It is also too soon for us to know whether foul play was involved or if this death occurred naturally.”

The Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office is performing a death investigation which should help provide answers. This news release will be updated as information becomes available.
