Terrebonne Parish Animal Shelter "Barry" Full of Felines
By: Terrebonne Parish Animal Shelter
GRAY, LA— Following Hurricane Barry’s landfall on Saturday, July 13, 2019, the Terrebonne Parish Animal Shelter has received over one hundred and eighty (180) animals. The majority of these animals were felines. In an effort to increase adoptions and create more space within the shelter to house the influx of animals, the Terrebonne Parish Animal Shelter will be offering all feline adoptions for $15.00 through the end of July 2019.
On Tuesday, July 16, 2019, the Terrebonne Parish Animal Shelter received assistance with transferring thirty-two (32) dogs to the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA in Virginia. The veterinary needs of the transferred dogs were sponsored by People’s Drug Store in Houma, LA and Lab-Adore Retrievers Rescue in Vermont.
“Our shelter was fortunate to be able transfer thirty-two dogs/puppies to a partner animal welfare agency in Virginia following Hurricane Barry; however, there are a few dogs and approximately seventy (70) cats/kittens in the shelter that desperately need homes,” said Valerie Robinson, Animal Shelter Manager.
Adoption hours during the week are Monday through Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm. Adoption hours on Saturdays are from 10:00am to 2:00pm. The shelter will not be open for intake on Saturdays. Pictures of some of the adoptable animals can be found on the shelter’s facebook page, Adopt-a-Pet.com and Petfinder.com.
