By: Thibodaux Police Department
Thibodaux Chief of Police Bryan Zeringue announced the arrest of Paul Hebert (W/M, 36), of Thibodaux, LA for D.W.I – 4th and Subsequent Offenses (Felony) & Public Intimidation-Threats (Felony).
On Tuesday, July 23rd, 2019, shortly before 9:30 p.m., members of the Thibodaux Police Department responded to a report of a subject driving a lawnmower on St. Mary Highway (LA. HWY. 1), near Ridgefield Road. Upon arrival, officers located a subject later identified as Paul Hebert crossing the aforementioned intersection, on a tractor style Craftsman Riding Lawnmower.
A traffic stop was immediately conducted, at which time Mr. Hebert showed signs of alcohol impairment. Mr. Hebert refused to cooperate with Standardized Field Sobriety Testing and later refused to submit to a breathe test. During the testing process, Mr. Hebert became physically and verbally irate with officers, while making death and retaliation threats toward the officers. Mr. Hebert also threatened the officer’s jobs.
Officers then obtained a search warrant for Mr. Hebert’s blood to be drawn at the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex, but Mr. Hebert was denied any medical treatment at L.P.C.C., due to his continued erratic behavior. The search warrant was later executed at a local hospital, where he had to be physically restrained by police after threating hospital staff.
A sample of blood was taken from Mr. Hebert and sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab, pending results.
Mr. Hebert was booked on the above stated charges and again transported to the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex, where he remains on a $21,000.00 bond.
