On 8-4-19 shortly after 12 noon, Houma Police responded to the Mechanicville area in reference to a shots fired complaint. While responding, it was reported that a red sedan was passing in the area of Roselawn Avenue and fired shots. Upon receiving the description, officers located the vehicle, conducted a stop and identified the driver as Jovante Thomas-27 yrs. old of Ocean Drive in Baton Rouge, La.

During the investigation, Houma Police located a 9mm semi-automatic pistol under the driver’s seat. At this point, Jovante Thomas was detained. As the investigation continued, Houma Police located Thomas to be in possession of various forms of illegal narcotics such as heroin, cocaine, numerous pills, codeine, methamphetamine, etc.

Taking this into consideration, Jovante Thomas was arrested for Illegal Use of a Weapon, 18 charges relative to narcotics possession, as well as Possession of a Firearm with a Controlled Dangerous Substance. He was transported to the jail and booked on the aforementioned charges.
