Thibodaux Chief of Police Bryan Zeringue announced that warrants have been issued for John L. Williams (B/M, 42 of Des Allemands, LA.) for Hit & Run Driving.

On Wednesday, July 10th, 2019, shortly before 7:30 a.m., the Thibodaux Police Department responded to the area of W. 1st Street and Jackson Street to investigate a cra

sh. While in-route, the at fault vehicle fled the scene before police could arrive. Due to the victim being able to give a thorough description of the driver and take pictures of the fleeing vehicle, we were able to utilize the Thibodaux Police Department’s Social Media Page to ask for the public’s assistance with the investigation.

On Saturday, July 24, 2019, the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office located the suspect vehicle in Des Allemands, where it was found to be abandoned on the shoulder of U.S. HWY 90. The vehicle was learned to be registered to John L. Williams. Through investigation, Thibodaux Police Detectives learned that Mr. Williams had been recently arrested and was incarcerated at the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center (St. Charles Parish) on outstanding warrants. It was also learned that Mr. Williams has active warrants through the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office as well.

Once learning this information, Thibodaux Police Detectives went to the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center, where M. Williams was interviewed and admitted to being the driver during the Hit & Run. Mr. Williams explained that he fled the scene, due to knowing he had active warrants for his arrest. Although Mr. Williams remains incarcerated on his previous warrants, another warrant has been issued for Mr. Williams through Thibodaux City Court for the violation of Hit & Run. Once released, Mr. Williams will be transported to the Lafourche Parish Correctional complex, where he will be booked and charged accordingly on the Thibodaux City Court Warrant ($1000.00 bond).

Chief Zeringue would like to thank our community partners and the assisting agencies for their assistance in this investigation.
