Update: Downtown Houma Shooting

As a result of the shooting that occurred near downtown Houma with several juveniles who were involved in a fight on 7-28-19 at the end of Juice Fest, Houma Police detectives conducted an operation which netted several arrests. After reviewing numerous hours of surveillance footage, Houma Police identified several juveniles between the age of 13-15 yrs old who were involved in a fight that let to a 15 yr old being shot in the back.
On 8-12-19, during the early morning hours, Houma Police detectives conducted a roundup, as well as executed multiple search warrants and arrested 15 juveniles on charges relative to Rioting, weapons charges and drug offenses. Houma Police recovered several semi-automatic pistols as well as marijuana during the operation.
The investigation into identifying the subject responsible for shooting the 15-yr. old is ongoing and further information will be released as it develops.
Initial Release:
On 7-28-19 shortly after 9pm, Houma Police responded to a shooting within the downtown area near Good Street and Main Street. During the investigation, it was learned that a fight broke out between several male teenagers. As the fight took place, someone brandished a weapon firing a shot into the crowd, which struck a 15-yr. old in the back.
As a result of the shooting the 15-yr. old was transported to a medical facility to be treated for his injuries. It has been reported to law enforcement that the injuries the victim sustained appears to not be life threatening.
At this point, Houma Police are in the process of continuing this investigation and need assistance identifying participants of the fight.
