Thibodaux speeder, found in possession of 84 grams of marijuana

Thibodaux Chief of Police Bryan Zeringue announced the arrest of Daijean Dixon (B/M, 20), of Slidell, LA for Speeding & Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana.
On Saturday, August 17th 2019, members of the Thibodaux Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle in the 600 block of East 1st Street (LA HWY 1). The 2011 Black Ford Fusion, was learned to be driven by Daijean Dixon. Upon contact with Mr. Dixon and the front seat passenger Jarius Monroe, Officers detected the odor of marijuana emitting from the interior of the vehicle. Mr. Dixon admitted to smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol prior to the stop, but denied being in possession of any marijuana. Mr. Dixon submitted to and passed all Standardized Field Sobriety Testing, but denied officers request to search the vehicle. A K-9 later alerted to the odor of narcotics on the vehicle, which allowed officers to conduct a search. The search rendered the findings of 84 grams of suspected marijuana, located in the trunk of the vehicle. 29 grams of the 84 grams were found to be packaged into seven individually wrapped bags, which is common packaging for distribution. Officers also located two scales containing suspected marijuana residue in the trunk.
Mr. Dixon admitted to the ownership of the suspected marijuana, which led to his arrest. Mr. Monroe was released on scene without incident. Mr. Dixon was later transported to the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex, where he later posted a $ 5,500.00 bond.
