Funny Personal Memoir & Non-Fiction Autobiography For Fathers & Sons Announced
David M. Perkins’ new book — which is available in Kindle, paperback, and hardcover formats — is a collection of funny, inspiring, and thought-provoking anecdotes, editorials, and essays. The book is his second to be published after “Dear Austin – A Letter To My Son” released in 2010.

Perkins decided to write “on LIFE – Rants, Tributes and Lessons Learned in No Particular Order” after receiving numerous requests from friends and family for physical copies of his work. However, the task of compiling his writing into one accessible volume proved to be a challenge, as he had not been the best steward of his work.
“As it turned out, my writings would be found in a lot of different formats, in a lot of different places,” explains Perkins. “A less ego-driven personality would have given up long ago. But, I had also promised my son that I would try to leave the paper trail that I wish I had had from my own father. I have pieced together at least a short trail for him.”
In the book, Perkins shares many personal stories regarding fatherhood, family dynamics, and loss and grief. He also includes several pieces in which he expounds many of his contrarian and controversial opinions. Throughout it all, he maintains a light, humorous, and optimistic tone.
While most of the book’s content is inspired by Perkins’s life as a father, husband, and son, he also pulled a lot of ideas from his over 30 years spent as a telecine colorist in Los Angeles’ motion picture and television industry.
Though anyone can read “on LIFE” and find something of value, the book is geared towards fathers, sons, and readers of non-fiction autobiographies and personal memoirs.
A recent review of “on LIFE” said: “This book warmly invites readers into an intimate journey through the author’s life. It beautifully captures the essence of our shared human experience through heartfelt stories, genuine reflections, and touching tributes. The author’s ability to blend humor with wisdom creates a comforting connection, encouraging readers to find beauty in life’s unpredictability.”
